legal and ethical obligations
When making a film or TV show, you have to take into consideration all of the legal and ethical problems that can arise in the making.
You have to make sure that you agree terms with the persons included such the agreement to not share private details, the promise that you wont use copyrighted material unless you have otherwise been granted permission to use. Copyright is a big area where productions can run into problems. You can have copyright on the idea but you can when you use somebody else’s exact idea. Failure to comply and maintain the agreements you had could result in legal accusations and the possibility of a fine or imprisonment (depending on what happened).
You have to be sure that you do not discriminate against people working in the production for any reason such as their race, gender, sexuality, or religion.
As of 2011 there is a new ACT in place known as the Discrimination act.
Every one has the right to work free of discrimination.
Another area of making a film or TV programme would be to watch out for anything that could offend the audience who sees the film or programme. If your production contains sensitive topics, then you have to make sure that it is justified in some way or another.
Contractual obligations are basically any contracts that are signed during the making of the show. This has to be stuck to throughout and must not be breached.
